BBU Bank Sponsors 2010 Miami-Dade County Industrial Report

The Commercial Industrial Association of South Florida on Jan. 15 issued its 2010 Miami-Dade County Industrial Report at a business gathering sponsored by BBU Bank. The report is considered the official annual report on industrial market conditions in Miami-Dade County.

Some 250 local business people, mostly commercial brokers and construction industry contractors, attended the breakfast event at the Hotel Sofitel to learn what the prospects are for the real estate market in the new year. The report was compiled by well-known real estate researchers Thomas J. Dixon and Andrew M. Dixon.

The 10-page report anticipated, among other things, that commercial real estate sales should be stronger in 2010 simply because of the reduced number of projects that were started in 2009.

Rafael Saldaña, President and CEO of Coral Gables-based BBU Bank, the event’s presenting sponsor for the second year, spoke briefly about his bank’s involvement in the Miami-Dade real estate industry, noting that BBU Bank "has been growing its commercial loan portfolio while many other banks have been shrinking or have stopped lending."

"We had a relatively good year year in 2009," Saldaña explained. "We actually grew our real estate loan portfolio by 16 per cent and did over 40 new loans totaling $32 million. Most of these loans were for income-producing commercial real estate and owner-occupied properties. In 2010 we are looking to do more multifamily lending."

Saldaña further described BBU Bank as a well-capitalized full service community institution, with ample liquidity, a clean balance sheet and an excellent regulatory record. He described the bank as a serious corporate citizen "very much committed to Miami-Dade and other South Florida communities."

BBU Bank is a Florida-chartered independent community bank providing commercial and consumer services for domestic and international clients. BBU Bank provides "boutique-type" services that allow clients to meet special borrowing requirements promptly to take advantage of time-sensitive business opportunities.

CIASF was as the Industrial Association of Dade County and has expanded to include member with commercial and industrial real estate interests.
