Nobody wants to fall prey to a phishing scam. Phishing is a scam that uses fake emails and websites to trick recipients into giving away their personal information, such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and online banking user names and passwords. Here are our top five tips for identifying a phishing email.

  1. Activate alerts for withdrawals and deposits in your BanescOnline account. Remember that this tool will help you monitor the transactions made in your different banking products.
  2. Be suspicious of e-mail that requests sensitive information or forms contained in an e-mail that asks for sensitive information.
  3. Protect your computer by using security software. Set the software to update automatically so it can deal with any new security threats.
  4. Often suspects use urgency or scare tactics, such as threats to close accounts.
  5. When in doubt, check. If you doubt the authenticity of a message, check directly with BanescoUSA.
